Slurry Blasting in Progress - The SRS System

Slurry Blasting in Progress – The SRS System

Surface Removal Specialists uses a low pressure wet abrasive blast system to clean and prepare surfaces. This blasting system is superior to sandblasting or soda blasting due to better surface protection and long-lasting cleaning results.

Wet abrasive blasting uses a mixture of water and particulate abrasive media (usually garnet based). The presence of water between the abrasive media and the substrate being processed creates a lubricating cushion that protects the media and the surface from excessive damage. This has the dual advantage of lowering blasting media breakdown and also prevents impregnation of foreign materials into the surface.

The water becomes a vapor which absorbs the dust particulates, and is considered the most environmentally acceptable form of surface removal.

Wet abrasive blasting perfect for surface preparation – 100% clean.

Surfaces after a SRS system low pressure wet abrasive blasting surface removal are extremely clean. There are no soluble salts and chloride contamination from the media or previous cleaning processes and no dust clinging to the surface.

Subsequent protective coating or bonding operations are always better after wet blasting than dry blasting because of the cleanliness of the surface.

SRS – Surface Removal System – Best cleaning and preparation method prior to protective coating application

Australian Standard AS1627 is the compliance rating for surface preparation for the application of Protective Coatings.

The SRS low pressure wet abrasive system consistently produces surfaces cleaned in compliance with AS1627. This is of importance in ensuring the correct application of Protective Coatings.
